BACHELORS OF FINE ARTS IN DANCE with Concentrations in Performance
and in Choreography & Dance Studies
The BFA in Dance is a comprehensive program designed to develop versatile dancers for professional careers or graduate studies. Our program offers a variety of dance academics, all devised to further your love of technique, dance history, the science behind our instrument (the human body), and the art of teaching dance to others. You will train intensely in Ballet and Contemporary technique, with the option of declaring an emphasis in either genre for more concentrated study. Explore and express your personal style in our Dance Composition courses. Many performance opportunities are available in our annual faculty concert and senior dance capstone projects. Additionally, UTEP dance students travel to the American College Dance Association conference each year to perform adjudicated works and to take a variety of classes from regional teachers and national guest artists. For the dancer who wants to explore his or her technique and artistry more deeply, our experienced faculty has connections both nationally and abroad for intensive winter and summer study.
